There are many rules out there for those who are dating. The truth is that Dating can be fun and exciting. It depends on your approach to it. Psychology Today gives us a few suggestions that will help you get the most out of your dating exploration.

The bottom line is to be true to yourself as you date. Stick to your standards. Most of all, don’t allow your life to be consumed with dating. Continue your hobbies, friendships and self-care.

Dating-Use the SMART APPROACH

〰️

Dating-Use the SMART APPROACH 〰️

  • Dating is not always easy. Practice mindfulness by having less judgment towards yourself.

You are not alone. Remind yourself that other singles are out there experiencing the same things that you have.

Be your own cheerleader. Speak to yourself with love and understanding.

  • Show up as yourself. A lot of people create a dating persona based on social expectations. Instead of acting like you have it all together, be honest about who you are and what’s important to you.

  • Date in a way that is more refined to weed out the bad apples. Be intentional and picky. Think about what you are looking for in a partner. Stick to your standards. You are worth it.

  • Follow your instincts. If you are not comfortable with the person, listen to your gut feeling. Meet publicly and consider providing your own transportation until you can trust the person. It is also a good idea to stay sober. You would want to always be aware and alert.

  • Have fun meeting new people, but remember that dating should not consume your life. Live your life outside of dating. Continue your hobbies and meeting with friends. Practice self-love.

What’s Love got to do with it?

We have given the world permission to invade our divinity with distorted and mangled misrepresentations of love. Out of the context of grief, we tend to leave a trail of internal brokenness and infliction of hurt to people around us. I am here to let you know that despite the experiences that deposited pain into your life ; that Love has everything to do with it. How can that be? You don’t hurt people you truly love, right? Well, let me tell you that God has given us all the power to love. Nevertheless, we were born out of love, but our once pure, innocent spirits have been invaded with a unfiltered flow of toxicity that has clouded our ability to love wholeheartedly and intentionally. Love isn’t gone. Love reigns. All of us were born of the capabilities of love. It is our past experiences that we have allowed to dim that light of seeing each other through pure hearts. We are walking around blind. The connection that God created for us to have is contaminated with our own brokenness. We accept this revelation as a challenge to go inside to change that light bulb to magnify the light we need to love without judgement and for connection.

Let’s take a journey into that tunnel of love. Love is more than romance. Its a profound feeling of humanity that connects us together under the loving hand of God. It is in our progressive journey in life that love has found itself embedded in our perceptions and has adorned the relationships that adds healthy connections in our lives. Walk forward with integrity and a true sense of completeness. There’s no way around it. If we truly love God and value our life on this earth; we will be able to embrace others in service and mutual respect. Agape love goes deeper than merely liking someone. Its a call to cultivate humanity in an authentic way by extending service, peace and care for you, me, him and her. Love is that powerful. Love ascends to a higher level of your growth. Love has everything to do with it.

Who is the Woman in Your Mirror?

We look at ourselves everyday. Cleansing our morning faces and applying makeup to make our images look smooth and “on point”. Have you ever asked yourself, who is that woman in the mirror? We’ve heard Michael Jackson rock that beat with his “Man in the Mirror” song which I’m sure includes us too. I want to go deeper with this. Who is the Woman in your mirror? Who are you? What do you want? What don’t you want? What makes you happy? What makes you cry? What do you need to do to live your best life and to walk in you truth?

Now, I would not ask you to do anything that I can’t do myself. Therefore, I asked myself those same questions in the mirror one morning. My mind stuttered and sputtered while I pondered my answers. I was stuck at the question: What makes me Happy? I mean, that should be the easiest one to answer, right? Of course, I want good health, travel, money, to lose 10 pounds and a stronger relationship with God. Oh yeah. I have those answers. Somehow, I felt that I was missing something. Money, and Travel, check. Looking good after shedding those 10 pounds, check. A loving relationship, check. There was a thread still hanging that needed to be pulled and allowed to unravel for me to understand my need for transforming thoughts about myself and what I really wanted.

I realized that I must go deeper into the recesses of my spirit to answer those questions honestly and courageously. This led me to embracing my growth during the vicissitudes of my life and decide to continue to unravel me. I yearned transformation. I wanted to rediscover my passion for life. I wanted a new attitude. I yearned to truly master self-love with or without a man. I to be aspired to give to my community on a deeper level. Now that is what would really make me happy. All of those treasures were incubated inside of myself. Isn’t that wonderful? It’s a pragmatic alignment to the “Me, Myself and I experience. Beyonce was on to something.

We dig in our yards to uproot those masterfully disguised weeds that find their way into our landscape. Pull them up by the root and toss them into the yard bags to be gone forever. Sometimes the roots manage to return. Maybe because we did not dig deep enough when uprooting them. That slither of root that we missed eventually grows and spreads into a field of golden dandelions or those weeds that look crinkled around the edges. Those stubborn little monsters. Disposing of those character traits, beliefs and behaviors are similar to weeds, they repel change. So we must fight through this.

As you pursue this transformation into lovingly rediscovering who you are; there must be fearless face to face moments in your personal mirror that honors, accepts and decides to embrace transformation. It may shock some folks. That ok. The journey to a Me, Myself and I path. Beyonce’ was on to something. Pursue inner peace with yourself and take the high road to self reflection and evolve into an elegantly refined YOU. You will manifest prosperity, passion and joy in your life.

As we dance into this new year, let scrutinize the woman our mirror. Not from the opinion of others and certainly not based our physical features but our divine spirit. Dig deep to overstand your purpose, your abilities, and the way that you show love to yourself and the world. It will take inner work, journaling and praying. You may want to upgrade your commitment to scheduled time alone with God everyday to meditate and seek those answers. Ultimately, the answers will come. The self-transformation process marries our mind and heart together as a unifying force of power. With this power we can change the world. Keep digging until you find YOU.

Stir up Your Feminine Energy!

Our feminine energy is embedded in our DNA. We are born with a feminine power that remains in our spirit throughout our lives. Our feminine power exudes a natural flow of strength, sensuality and spirituality.

The problem is that often times we deflect from this precious gift from God by burying it with low perceptions of ourselves. The truth is that when we embrace our femininity we are honoring our role as women, mothers and goddesses. Femininity isn’t limited to our clothing, jewelry or fragrances. Its a deeper awareness of our pure essence as women. This includes our Queendom (intuition), wisdom, resilience, creativity, and our movement.

You can stir up your feminine energy by speaking thoughtfully and intentionally.

1. Speaking your truth and embrace your sensuality.

2. Surrounding yourself with spiritually connected women who are willing to share, support and inspire you.

3, Taking care of your body by feeding it foods from the earth that will heal, nourish and satisfy you.

4, Being able to receive compliments gracefully and appreciatively.

5. Embrace your unique beauty by creating your own sense of style and wear it boldly.

6. Being able to show and express love openly and freely. After all, we carry the seed of life and provide the channel from which life is brought forth in the world.

7. Expressing ourselves creatively with passion and purpose.

8. Building a personal relationship with God daily gives us the fuel of faith to cope with life challenges and to walk in our purpose.

Be sweet to your damn self.

Real Sexy

Unfortunately, our culture’s definition of a woman’s “sexiness” is limited to exposing parts of her physical bodies, clothes, hair and makeup. This mentality is the poison that causes confusion in us accepting ourselves authentically. The lack of self love has dominated our culture as women. We are finding ourselves constantly seeking to be something other than our true essence as women.

Beautifully Seasoned ladies, we know that we are more than a limited self-image. The truth is, women encompasses a beautiful array of unique characteristics, shapes and shades. We are walking artwork, created by our God as masterpieces. The sexiness we are seeking outwardly is already embedded inside of us. We have been programmed to think that our “sexy” is manifested in the outside of ourselves. I challenge you to reset your thinking about “Sexy” and to activate that power of self-love to reclaim your greatness as a woman. Let’s reconfigure this misunderstood concept of “Sexy” and detox from those toxic thoughts about our personal attractiveness, worthiness, and confidence.

Sexiness is a natural quality in women. It’s our feminine energy that makes us sensual. Our flow of sexuality was not created to merely attract a man. To be sensual is simply the ability to love our own bodies to activate a graceful confidence. It is not limited to our dress, our makeup, nor our hairstyles. A few exclusive benefits of being a member of the “Woman’s Club” involves the chance to produce life , dress in artistic ways and bring softness in the world in the form of bountiful care and unconditional love. Though those things drives our feminine qualities; its our personal self care agreement that fuels our personal Sexy. Once we allow our authentic femininity to blossom; our spirit is magnified in the world. The blossoming of love, compassion, self-respect, self-love and our steadfast faith erupts from our spirit. It is with these superpowers that we can decide to refocus on becoming aligned with our femininity, and that “We are fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalms 139:14) God created you as a creator of life…How amazing! We bring life into the world. That is sexy.

What then is the Real Sexy?

Sexiness does not only rely on our outward appearance but from our character, grace and confidence. A  woman who is loving , respectful, full of life, understanding, and depends on God in her life is Sexy. It isn’t restricted to those who are of a particular size but comes with a foundation from years of wisdom and experiences. Sexiness is a a cyclone of self-love and the ability to see yourself as a worthy expression of feminine authenticity.

Walking in your purpose is Sexy. Living your life purposefully is Sexy. Have you noticed that when you are working towards a goal, you pull power, creativity and resilience from inside of yourself to manifest that goal? Your determination saturates your spirit. Your inside glow is magnified through your spirit. You become excited. You start looking forward to experiencing the harvest from the seeds you planted. Ladies, that is the Real Sexy.

Living in the flow of Gods divine direction in your life is Sexy. Like a beautiful stream of water flowing gracefully; by trusting Gods plan for your life you manage those not so pleasant times with faith and finesse. That is the Real Sexy.

To allow yourself to love freely is sexy. Expressing your love and care to others unconditionally is Sexy. To be vulnerable to overflow with service to others and allow your wisdom to have it’s way in your life journey is a part of being Sexy.

I encourage you to step out of that confined cage of limited thinking of who you are. You are Sexy just because you are utilizing your incredible feminine power in a meaningful, loving and graceful way.

Finally, we understand that not all men can understand the true essence of sexuality. The media bombards their minds to define sexy as just a means leading to sex. Since men are visual creatures and are driven by a one dimensional view of Sexy; they sometimes label women as sexual objects to bring them sexual pleasure. Cast that old definition of Sexy into the fire. You are worth more.

If you meet that man who understands your sexiness as the depth of your character, self-respect, wisdom, charm, confidence and feels your spirit through your beautiful relationship with God , then he is a keeper. Then, you can trust when compliments your sexy look in that black dress, those heels, hair laid, makeup on point and smelling like you just stepped out of a garden of roses. You can smile knowing your worth as a real woman and all of the internal jewels that decorate your essence. You have evolved. Embrace your Real Sexy.

Reset Your Mind-The Warrior Mindset

Sometimes you just have to crush that that thing like a warrior. Go deep into your mental closet and pull out those weapons that still have tags on them. Its time to wear your perseverance, confidence, fierceness and uniquely designed spirit like you would a boss black dress. Our feminine energy is often mistaken as just the quality of being only soft, passive and nurturing. Though these characteristics are a sacred part of our womanhood, we have insurmountable strength, endurance and problem solving skills that paves a divine path to our overcoming. Women, we are OVERCOMERS. Women warrior stand inside themselves with a true spirit of brazen boldness when faced with issues of the heart and to push social change. Evidence of ancestral warriors dominate our history with a sacred strength to overcome. Our true heroes who set the standards for us, leaped into uncharted territories to accomplish unspeakable with spoken finesse and determination.

Successful Culture emphasizes that, “we must understand that our circumstances does not define us.” Whether you have a broken relationship or experiences a financial collapse'; circumstances are in our lives to teach us a lesson, help us grow or to steer us in another direction. Embrace your warrior mindset by understanding that your inevitable situation is one that you can handle and it is not to your demise. Here are a few suggestions on how to move forward in your life journey with a warrior mindset.

Understanding-Understanding the problem by accepting it and trust your ability to handle it.

Adaptive-You may have to be flexible. Your situation may cause you to stretch in angles that you have not before. Breathe. Stretch. You will amaze yourself.

Determination-Move forward through your situation with a fierceness, boldness and with God’s direction. You have the determination rooted inside of you to make it through, make it over, do it over, break down that wall. You were born with a survival instinct that was cleverly created in your femininity. If you need references, read the stories of Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, etc.

Assertiveness-Sometimes you have to be the one to break down a few doors in order to get results. The doors are often our own limited thinking. Speak up. Make a Move. Write the letter. Start the organization. Stand up for yourself and others. Your voice is valuable as is your heart.

The Fully Realized Woman

Meditation

I am a BEAUTIFUL WOMAN, with a beauty that doesn’t wash off. I earned it, unearthed it, rescued it like a jewel in the dust, picked it up and made it shine.

For years, I did not see it, though I sensed it was there. Now it dazzles and thrives. I am healthy, capable, independent, strong yet still so fragile, floored by a sigh. My body is that of a creator — angles meeting curves, hardness drifting into soft.

I am mother, daughter, sister, lover to myself. Embraceable and brave, I extend my heart. My body is home, my home a shrine to life, comfortable, warm and rich with treasures. Mine is the scent of hot spices caught in a breeze, mine the laughter that swings through the door.

I share myself only with those who honor me as I am and protect myself, my house, and my time from invaders. I search for my center in the midst of chaos, practice peace as wild dogs clamor in my mind.

I use power for the greater good, release rage in neutral settings, with no one innocent in the line of fire.

I am learning how to persist and when to let go, am willing to feel all emotion stop their depths and exaltations, to wake up in every nerve and no longer am afraid of my life.

Both my beauty and strength transcend age, time, and perhaps even this lifetime.

Each day I am new, yet more at home in myself.

Moment by moment, I create my world.

Accepting Your Uniqueness Empowers you to Love Others

Accepting Your Uniqueness Empowers you to Love Others

It’s always easier to accept the beauty of a newborn baby, a red rose, the soothing sweet melody of music or the visual inspiration of art. The challenge comes when turning that beautiful energy internally. Why does it feel unatural and require a shift of thinking to accept our own unique beauty? The world bombards our minds with messages and images that reinforce that we are lacking something. Accepting ourselves becomes a mental fight in the boxing ring of self-worth. The fight to be ourselves becomes a relentless pursuit requiring an elevated belief in God. To truly feel that we are created by God in his image takes an intentional desire to learn more about him. To love our skin, thighs, hair and full lips involves trust in our Creator, God.

“We are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus. so that we can do the good things that he plans for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10.

We have adopted a distorted view of ourselves by looking through the clouded lens of deception. All a masterful plan to pack pockets and bank accounts. It’s the way of the world. Our self-worth is not for sale. Its up to us to embrace our worth and accept ourselves in its pure form. Free yourself from comparisons by believing that God has a plan for your life. Dance through life with purpose and helping others. Push through the weeds of low self-worth and plant seeds of purpose and embrace your growth.

Sis, you are pretty powerful. You are blessed beyond measure. Accept yourself and allow the God in you to shine.

Beautifully Empowered,

Katrina

Peace of Mind and Heart

Lord,

Give me your peace. Give me confidence in the depth of danger. Give me hope when I am surrounded by fear. Still my worries and calm my anxieties pressing in on me from this world. Change your life, not just your clothes. Come back to God, your God. And here’s why: God is kind and merciful. He takes a deep breath, puts up with a lot. this most patient God , extravagant in love, always ready to cancel catastrophe.

Joel 2: 13

Self Love Matters

Showing some sweet loving to yourself is essential to living in wholeness and purpose. The intentional conditioning of your mind to schedule a self-care routine for yourself is a power move. It restores and replenishes all of the unique flavor loss during our daily grind.

Back in the day our grandmothers and even our mothers valued the time spent to replenish their energy, femininity. and divineness. Can you imagine your grandmother in that house dress congregating with friends around the kitchen table? Can you hear the of erupting lady laughter and deep seeded discussions overflowing about men and kids, over cups of coffee and homemade pound cake? Some would managed to find time to apply oils to their wet bodies after a bath. Moving her hips while tending that pot of ox tails gave Momma the care space to feel her body find its personal rhythm. Self-care isn’t a new discovery on the block. It has evolved into a movement of inner peace, wholeness and resilience.

Today, our self-care options have been magnified to the 10th power. There are numerous creative ways available for us to restore, rejuvenate and appreciate our womanhood. We have manicures and pedicures available on every block in the nation. The care of our hair can be learned within minutes. We can find solace in a spiritual bath. Lit scented candles calm our moods. Buying our own self a dozen roses, just because has manage to become the norm to many of us.

Self-Care should feel like that fur wrapped around us. Cozy and warm. Self-Care should feel like standing on the top of a sky scraper. Exhilarating. Self-Care should touch your soul, body and spirit in any way that resonates with you.

You Got The Power!

You were born with the innate power of strength, wisdom and perserverance. As women, we were created to create humanity. You should feel powerful with that fact alone. This confirms that you have power to do, be and operate in this world with purpose. You are the champions that launches magnificense in the world. You are the calm and peace in this world of chaos and inequities.

You Got Power.

You were born with it. Your personal power flows through your spirit and is an anchor to your soul. This power is represented in your ability to bring forth life to this world. Your power is activated through your surrender to the word of God. Womanhood power is one to treasure and accept in all of its magnificence. This spectacular gift of being a woman is cultivated by our spirit of perserverance, unconditional love, and courage.

Our power is inherited by God’s favor on our ancestors. They pass the power baton by leaving a trail of astounding faith and a relentless drive by any means necessary. Jesus had the power and his love linked us to that power by honoring our precious and Almighty God.

You Are Valuable!

You bask in worthiness. You radiate beauty. You bring magic to this world through your creativity. You are valuable by living a purposeful life. Loving gracefully and living wisely. Your power can transform the minds in your community. You can bring souls closer to God.

Michelle Obama once said “ The difference between a broken community and a thriving one is presence of the women who are valued”. A Godly woman can change

Walk in your Power. Power can come in different forms and journeys. develops over time with wisdom as the groundwork. Use your power to transform. You got the power. Now accept it and live it.

“ So your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.”

I Corinthians 2:5

Katrina Garrett-Neville

How Strong is your Foundation?

Is your foundation on a solid platform of faith, courage, dignity, and purpose or is it as flimsy as a sheet of paper? Having a strong base of spiritual faith, resilience, courage, love for yourself and others will guide you towards living a full quality life. Here are a few suggestions on how to live intentionally with a strong foundation.

Let’s be realistic. People change their minds more often than we can count. This is why we must not build our lives based on the approval of others. Your foundation will be stronger to face the challenges and decisions in your life if you trust yourself and God. Friendships can come and go. Rely on a “sure thing”, God.

*A materialistic mindset is tightly weaved into the fabric of our society. We are seeking worthiness from the clothes we wear, cars we drive and bank account status. A strong foundation and conviction from God will help us focus more on the things that matter by executing smart wise decisions about money, helping others and working purposefully. Finances can change through economic downturns, job loss, and pandemic. Can I get an Amen? We can enjoy the fruits of our labor but not give it prestige over our sense of self.

*Our physical appearance is important to us and how we navigate in this world. Building a strong foundation in our lives will help us to see ourselves as masterpieces. Though we want to take care of our bodies, adorn them with the latest fashion, we must be reminded that clothes don’t define you. Your self-respect, generosity, gratefulness. wisdom and spiritual awareness will ground you with a strong foundation regardless of what you are wearing.

*Conforming to the ways of the world will always hook us up to things that may be difficult to handle. This is why we must rely on God’s guidance to make it clear that we are moving to HIS beat and not the world’s. Your foundation will always shift and be consumed with a feeling of insecurity if we conform to the labels that society places upon us.

*If your foundation is not steady, strong and based on the security of God, it will lean and eventually crumble. If we create a firm base by growing spiritually, activating our wisdom and living our purpose we can handle those setbacks and maintain a solid sense of self. While life struggles may shake you up a bit, your foundation will only need minor repairs to its steadfast foundation.

Ask yourself these questions?

  1. When someone I love fails me, walks away or disappoints me-does my world crumble?

  2. When my body is changing or show signs of illness, do I remain positive and trust God for healing and practice a healthy lifestyle?

  3. When I am facing financial problems, do I crumble under defeat or decide to manage better next time?

  4. When I am faced with disappointments in my life, do I cope with it from a calm, practical and spiritual perspective? Prayer and seeking guidance from God will help strengthen your faith.

All of us have been in the loop with many of these situations. When you intentionally depend on God in these circumstances, you will gain a deeper insight about who you are. You are stronger than you think. Your foundation will hold you up and strengthen you.

Keep positive for learning and evolving into the beautifully seasoned woman that you already are.

Glorious Gardens

Have you ever thought about starting a garden? Sis, admit it. The delectable taste of those succulent collard greens from your neighbors garden made your toes curl. From the lipstick red plumped juicy tomatoes to the appetizing bell peppers; our tastebuds are bedazzled from mothers earth’s savory essence. Like grandma, Mother Earth has that kiss of life and a whole lot of flavor.

Growing your own vegetables can nourish your body, spirit and ease your mind. You can start a garden patch in a small area in your yard or even on your balcony. The motivation is to eat the food that you nurture and grow. Here are a few tips to starting your own glorious vegetable garden.

  1. Know your climate zone. This way you can grow the vegetables that will thrive in it. Check on the first and last frost dates. This truly does make a difference in planting at the right time.

  2. What type of garden do you want? We are specifically focused on vegetable gardens for this article but there are many more types of gardens. Consider flower gardens, herb gardens, container gardens, etc.

  3. Choose an area that has direct sunlight most of the day. Plants thrive on a flat land as well.

  4. This is the fun part. Girl, have fun selecting your garden tools. You You will need gloves, a large shovel, hand held shovels, hand pruners, etc.

  5. Test your soil to assess whether your pH levels are off or if your soil has nay nutrient deficiencies. Soil test kits are available at any hardware store and of course Amazon.

  6. Make your garden bed. Pull those weeds and remove the grass for a bed for your luscious vegetables.

  7. Once you pull the weeds, spread a think layer of compose ( left over egg shells, rinds from oranges and cucumbers, apple cores, and any other fresh food left overs). Start a compose bin with these left overs in your yard covered. Eventually they will break out into the nutrients that will make you garden sing. Layer a thick layer of this compose on top of your soil and till it. Mix it in, Sis.

  8. Decide on what vegetables you would like to grow. You can start from seeds or purchase a young plant grown in a commercial greenhouse.

  9. Water about an inch of water per week. Check your garden daily. If a plant appears yellow, it may need more water.

Roe vs. Wade Commentary

The overturn of women’s rights to have abortions has stunned us all. I never thought that we will be faced with the government deciding for any woman to terminate a pregnancy. Frankly speaking, I do not condone abortion and would not recommend it for anyone. I believe that thou shall not kill. I firmly believe that in everything God will judge each of us for the things we have done according to his law. Nevertheless, it is not my personal belief that is at stake here nor is the government’s. There are millions of women in our country that have experienced the toxic social ills that represents itself in the form of rape, incest, poverty and yes even pure irresponsibility in using contraception. Though it will be my mission to convince a woman to keep her baby and that somehow God will work it out in the end. Nevertheless, who am I to impede my belief upon a woman about what to do with her body?

The problem is that our Supreme Court has decided to bypassed the January 22, 1973, 7–2 decision holding that the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution to provide a fundamental "right to privacy", which protects a pregnant woman's right to an abortion.”

As stated in an article published by NPR, “a summary of this dissenting were Justices Stephen Breyer, appointed by President Clinton, and Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, appointed by President Obama. They said that the court decision means that "young women today will come of age with fewer rights than their mothers and grandmothers." Indeed, they said the court's opinion means that "from the very moment of fertilization, a woman has no rights to speak of. A state can force her to bring a pregnancy to term even at the steepest personal and familial costs.”

This is clearly an admomination and unadulterated lack of empathy and compassion of a woman’s natural rights. Similarly, like the Civil War and the polarized views about slavery, states are further allotted the privilege to governed abortions in their states.

So, take a deep breath. This can take your breath away at bit. I am actually finished with establishing a family. I speak for our future generations. I speak for the future issues that will and debates into political agendas that will circumcise our constitution.

Don’t throw the towel in. Let’s keep fighting in prayer and fasting. Pray for freedom and personal rights. Above all, lets continue to pray for the social ills in our communities. Sexual Trafficking, Rape, and Incest are only a few of the savage conditions in our society that distorts the mind, spirit and bodies of many women today. It continues to sadden me that a woman is faced with a decision to allow life to flow through her. Life is precious. And yes, I believe that each child should have the opportunity to live.

In the end, my beliefs are based on the word of God. Ministry should take place by breaking ground in the mindsets of the sick, confused, and marginalized. Seasoned women can be the pillar of wisdom for young women who are hopeless and perplexed from societies standards. Nothing is impossible with God. Let’s remember that.

Solo Travel! Why would you want to do something like that. Well, I put on my big girl panties and did it.

It was a liberating experience.

Dear Sis:

That use to be me. I would not go anywhere alone. I will look weird. People will look at me like a sick puppy. How can I have fun alone? There’s an old saying-Never say Never. Well, I finally took the plunge and took my first solo trip to a place I always wanted to travel to. All the confirmations lined up perfectly. The time of year was perfect. My finances was accommodating. The thing is that when I shared this exciting idea with my friends; no one was available to travel with me at the time. I was forced to make the decision to either stay at home or to jump on that plane to visit one of my dream destinations (Hawaii) ALONE. While contemplating the idea, I was able to speak with a friend about her solo trip. She had been on many trips and shared with me her experience. All of the green lights were shining bright. Though I was nervous and not sure of what I would experienced; I went to God in prayer. I received my confirmation with a nudging in my spirit. I could not allow fear to control me. Covid even reared its ugly attitude towards this trip. I am not backing down. I got well and surrendered to my Faith that lit the path. I followed.

I couldn’t believe myself when I decided to just DO IT. Well, Sis. I must say that it was an amazing trip. Yes, I felt a little awkward at first escorted to my hotel room by the gallant hotel staff. He smiled at me as he placed my suitcase on the rack. “You will have a great time here, he said with that island dialect.” Girl, I jumped up and down on my bed like a 5 year old. Slid open those doors to my balcony. Took a deep breath and said Thank You God for helping me see my authentic self. I felt courageous. I felt liberated. I had fun. I met people. I enjoyed Hawaii and digested all of its dazzling beauty.

This trip helped me to see myself in an entirely different way. I allowed my growth as a woman to activate my free spirit. The power I gained from this reflective self-loving adventure awakened my inner fierceness and unpacked my hidden enthusiasm about my life. My life. There’s no one responsible for my pleasure but me. No man nor friends will interfere with me living my best life.

Being the best version of yourself may mean stepping out of your comfort zone and EXPERIENCING LIFE! You are worth it. Go for it, for once just for you.

Let Your Light Shine,

Katrina

How to Discover Your Authentic Self-At Any Age

Bevy Smith

Live Again!

Sis,

It’s time to live out loud. The pandemic forced many of us to live isolated and unsure of our future. Our self-care may have suffered along the way. Now it time to rejuvenate, revive and restore our joy.

Here are several ways to recharge and revitalize your life. Live again. Dance in the Sun. Love unconditionally. Serve others.

  1. Accept Your Self- There’s no one like you. Find ways to love yourself just the way you are.

  2. Step out of your comfort zone- Do something different. Be daring. Explore new activities. Have fun.

  3. Glamorize up your appearance. Try something new. Put on colors and try different styles. Wear what makes you feel good.

  4. Spruce up your living environment. Light candles and add things to your environment that will add beauty and serenity.

  5. Pray/Mediate-Take the time to connect with God. Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you, not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.” Believe it and trust God to work that “thing” out in your life. Don’t lose your joy for living. Your best days are in front of you.

  6. Carve out time in your day to provide some type of service to others through supporting charitable organizations, or even a phone call/text may lift someone’s spirits.

  7. Create a Blissful List- We are not making Bucket Lists anymore. I am not thinking of kicking a bucket. A Blissful List are things that you have always wanted to do in your life that will bring you joy and fulfillment.

  8. Surround yourself with people who care about you. The people who we spend time with reflect how we feel about ourselves. Seek positive people in your life who are authentic and genuine,

  9. Speak words of Love, Peace, Health, Wealth and Happiness. Be intentional of the words you speak to yourself and others. This may take some time but if you are conscious of your thoughts your words will follow. Try selecting powerful affirmations that you can say to yourself daily.

  10. Believe in yourself. Love yourself. Honor yourself. We can’t love others if we don’t love ourselves. You are a masterpiece created by God. Know it. Speak it. Your best days are in front of you.

Your Best Days are in front of you. Live Life with Joy!

Why Am I losing My Hair?

Sis, everyone knows how we feel about our hair. It is that velvet base that holds our crown. Women 50 years old and older are experiencing the tragic reality of losing/ thinning hair. Even though this is a normal part of aging; there are other reasons why you may be losing hair. According to GoodRxHealth.com below are several reasons why you may be experiencing hair loss and/or thinning.

Stress

Every hair follicle goes through growth and resting phases. A body under stress pushes hairs out of the growth phase and into the resting phase. Resting hairs eventually fall out. You might see your hair start shedding around 3 months after a very stressful event, and it can last for 3 to 6 months.

But you won’t go bald from stress-induced hair loss. Once the stress passes, most people see regrowth 3 to 6 months later. Depending how long your hair is, it can take 12 to 18 months to fully correct itself.

Genetics

The most common reason for hair loss in both men and women is genetics. You can inherit the genes for hair loss from one or both of your parents. In women, hereditary hair loss usually starts after the age of 40. Roughly 40% of women have detectable hair loss by the age of 50. And less than half of women get through life with a full head of hair.

Hereditary hair loss looks a little different in women than it does in men. You might find that your part is wider or your hairline is further back than it used to be. In most women, it progresses slowly over years, but without treatment, thinning might affect the whole scalp.

Diet

Crash dieting can have two negative effects on your hair. First, your body perceives rapid weight loss as a stressful event — it thinks you are starving! Second, it might mean not getting the nutrients your body needs to grow healthy hair. In times of stress or nutrient shortages, the hair is the first thing to go. Hair loss from stress corrects itself over time. But, if you have a protein or vitamin deficiency, that could limit the hair’s ability to grow back. It can also change how the hair looks, making it drier, duller, and more prone to breakage.

To prevent hair loss, choose a weight loss approach that is slow and steady. The Mayo Clinic recommends losing between 1/2 to 2 pounds per week. Along with this, make sure to eat a balanced diet complete with protein, iron, zinc, niacin, and fatty acids.

Menopause

Menopause naturally happens at an average age of 49 to 51 years. Once menopause starts, a dramatic drop in estrogen levels causes hair to become thinner (especially at the time and sides of the scalp) and grow more slowly. Some women will also notice more facial hair. If you are prone to hereditary hair loss, menopause makes it worse.

Hormonal Changes

Whether you went off the pill or just had a baby, hormonal changes can affect hair growth. Specifically, higher estrogen levels make your hair thicker and fuller. When estrogen levels drop, hair falls out. Fortunately, hair loss should stop as your body adjusts to your new estrogen levels.

While estrogen helps hair, progesterone can cause or worsen hair loss. Some popular progesterone-based birth control medications associated with hair loss are:

  • Implants like Nexplanon

  • Depro-Provera, the birth control shot

  • Birth control patches like Xulane

  • Nuva-Ring, the birth control vaginal ring

Traumatic Hair Styling.

Relaxers and hot combs cause inflammation. Braids, weaves, twists and tight ponytails put pressure on hair roots. This damages hair follicles and can lead to scarring and permanent hair loss. The first sign might be thinning at the hairline or loss of hair at the top of the scalp.40% of women

Dear Sis,

So, I had this idea that I would prepare for 2023 with a changed mindset. I plan to attend to my soil (mind) before I plant that seed (goals). Now I know that its too cold outside for most of us especially living in the Midwest to plant anything. The ground is chilly and the soil is a frozen block of dirt. However, the soil that I am referring to is coming from an entire different perspective. The soil are the things and situations that I allow to either toxify or fortify my mind, body and spirit. You see, I have come to an realization that before I can manifest anything in my life that is prosperous; I must tend to my mind’s soil with the intention to prepare it to receive the harvest that I want to manifest in my life.

I am thinking up 2023 with my head up.

Sis, you already know some things about weeds. A weeds appearance is deceitful. They can appear as flowers to be admired and adorned. The true reality is that weeds can slither into our yards as felons by strangling the natural beauty from our yards. And the thing about weeds is that they are stubborn. It requires a process of termination to get rid of those bull headed culprits. Much like our minds, we can be embracing weeds instead of true roses. The dandelion is often mistaken for a flower by a child; though its a weed. Our wisdom tells us the contrary. Dandelions are weeds in a pretty shell. Would you prepare a bouquet of weeds in a vase to display in your home?

Let’s scrutinize the mental weeds that we have allowed to deceived our purpose, our vision and our authentic womanhood. Let’s made a decision to cut unforgiveness, bitterness, procrastination, laziness, gossip, judgement, low-self esteem at the root. These weeds have corrupted our lives long enough. No man can do it for us. No job can fulfill that need. Not even money can change our mindset. It starts with our intention to dig deep internally and make a decision to change our thinking. Self reflection to accept the truth about ourselves is a start in this life change.

It will take determination and a strong will to rid our minds of these toxic character traits but its well worth it for our bountiful harvest. We are moving forward to becoming the women that God created us to be. Recognize that change begins with taking deliberate inventory of your mind. Make the time to engage in scrutinizing your thinking and replace those mental weeds by laying a foundation of spiritual soil that will manifests a loving character, empathy, confidence, peace, patience, positivity, kindness, generosity, tolerance, and a conscious walk with God. I am using God’s word and promises as the nutrients to shape and mold me into a the beautiful, prosperous, classy, ambitious, confident, wealthy, and the divine manifestation that God created me to be in 2022. No more room for weeds in my living garden. I welcome you to join me in this life change as we enter into 2022. Prepare for it now. It’s coming. Are you ready?

Woman Evolve 2021

EXHALE

If you haven’t heard of her let me tell you some things.

Sarah Jakes Roberts: Pastor, Author and Astounding Speaker, Mother, Wife and a Sister to all hosted her annual Woman Evolve Conference in Dallas, Texas. She is the daughter of the magnificent Bishop T.D Jakes and Serita Jakes of the Potters House. Sarah is the wife to Pastor Toure’ Roberts of both the Potters House at One LA and Potters House of Denver.

Sistah Sarah has a testimony that will make you leap and run to the altar. I mean it’s just that powerful. Her deeply convicted story along with her eloquent delivery of God’s word inspired me to get my ticket to her conference-Woman Evolve 2021. I had that nudge in my spirit saying…Go. Go get your blessing.

Eventually, two lovely ladies searching for their blessings decided to join me. Teyona and Phyllis was right on board. Since they were women after God’s heart, the decision was made swiftly. We were seeking God’s word to fill in those cracks and creases in our lives. We boarded that plane expecting a weekend of a intense mixture of soul lifting, spiritual enlightenment and dream building. I was focused on allowing the spirit of God to do within me what he will. The theme for the conference was EXHALE. Let it go. BREATHE. I know you felt that.

I was all in. I was ready for my blessing. I was expecting a word, a feeling, a new way of thinking about myself and my situation. Girl, let me tell you that the conference exceeded my expectations. Let me tell you that I haven’t cried like I did in a long while. The exhaling of all of those dead thoughts and past experiences that I nurtured inside poured out of me into the well of the past. Gone. The spirit of God spoke through Sarah’, penetrating into our souls and replacing our darkness with a beam of light leading us into the direction of renewal, strength, rejuvenation and inner peace.

There were other speakers at the conference as well that delivered the word of God from a place that only the holy spirit could manifest . Pastor Toure’ Roberts and Dr. Anita Phillips to name a few. All came to help us to EXHALE and breathe in Faith, Peace, and love for God and ourselves.

Sis, since you were not there. Here’s a scripture from the conference that you can ponder and reflect on. I will see you at the conference in 2022. In the meantime, don’t allow the pain and disappointments in your situation to take your breathe away. Don’t allow others spirit to distract you from God’s goodness. God’ is good. EXHALE. LET IT GO. PURGE. BREATHE IN LIFE. FAITHFULLY, BREATHE IN THE WORD OF GOD. You will be ok. I promise.

Ezekiel 37:1-10

Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, 'Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones:I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.

Practice Gratitude

We have heard it since kids. “Be grateful for what you have. Someone somewhere wishes that they have what you have.” Does it ring a bell? As we have matured, those reminders about gratitude are passed on to our own children as lessons of appreciating the present moment. We can never get it back. There’s power in gratitude.

Gratitude (being grateful) is packed with loads of benefits. It is known to improve our mental health because it deflects your thinking from what you don’t have to what you do have. Simply put. Gratitude sets our mind on appreciation instead of focusing on what we perceive as lack. Our mindset starts to rise to the precious positivity in our lives. Here are a few ways that I practice Gratitude.

  1. Say thank you-People don’t have to be kind or helpful. Show your appreciation by simply saying thank you.

  2. Recognize the blessings in your life regardless of how small. Expressing gratitude opens the door for more “good things” to flow into your life.

  3. Start a gratitude journal. When you reflect on your blessings; it will elevate your gratitude and therefore attract more blessings into your life.

  4. Share your gratitude with others. Your testimony can inspire someone to practice gratitude.

  5. Pray and give thanks to God Almighty. Know that everything thing that happens in your life good and bad is for a good reason. Trust that God will work it out in amazing ways.

Let’s face it, Ladies. Covid-19 is real and still standing. The increase of cases are being reported each day. There’s an urgent plea amongst health officials for everyone to be vaccinated. Some are even using monetary as bait to influence their residents to comply with the vaccination procedure. Whatever your beliefs are regarding the vaccination; we can all agree that this virus has caused havoc in our lives. Businesses and schools were on lockdown causing businesses to lose money and children to learn via electronical devices. What can we do? Where can we exert our power?

Wearing a mask and social distancing is within our power. Wearing a mask prevents your respiratory droplets from reaching others which can results in less contact of the virus. Social distancing can remind us that touching others can reduce our chances of attracting Covid-19. Lets not forget the importance of washing our hands frequently, especially after touching surfaces like door knobs, counters, objects, etc.

We can do our part to remain healthy personally and globally. Vaccinations are available in your area. If everyone can take a proactive approach during this time, we can conquer Covid-19.

Searching for Inner Peace?

Be Still and Know that I am God-Psalms 46:10

Inner Peace starts with connecting with our Creator, God. Meditating is a great way to start learning how to focus which helps in meaningful prayer. According to Head Space, “Meditating is not about becoming a new person, a better person or a different person.” Meditating helps us to unfold our minds into learning how to think with a new sense of awareness. To be able to see the world from a different perspective. Meditation allows you to tap into your own thoughts and feelings without judgement thus developing a healthy way of thinking about ourselves. It’s a freedom of the mind to experience the lovely part of YOU. That secret magic inside of you that we often neglect.

I recently decided to go deeper into meditating because I wanted to experience inner peace. There was a battlefield in my mind that consumed my thoughts and zapping my mental energy. Worry, Anxiety, and the entire uncertainty from this pandemic settled into my spirit. I chose to make deliberate efforts to find my own peace. I needed the mind power that could demolish the toxic messages from the pandemic along with challenges of teaching remotely and upgrading my feelings about my self-worth.

Being in the middle of a world wide pandemic is enough to shuffle all of our feathers. I asked myself: How can I gain a sense of control over our my thoughts? Is it possible to attain inner peace in the midst of havoc? My answer to both of those questions was Yes. I already laid a foundation of spiritual prayer in my morning routine which stabilized my faith in God. To layer my prayer with a calming awareness of focus will elevate my awareness by bejeweling my mental makeover.

Learning how to meditate takes time. It’s like building a muscle. With your daily dedication and investment of your time, you will begin to feel more comfortable with your deepest thoughts. As you begin to commit to dive into a higher consciousness, you will begin to feel more peaceful, and comfortable with yourself. You will eventually experience your thoughts becoming one of focus and feelings of satisfaction with your life. Your mind will be focus more on gratitude instead of negative energies.

One way to start to experience a full benefit from meditating is to be able to be fully present when you are tapping inside of yourself. This is often called Mindfulness. To be mindful is to be aware only of the present time. Right Now. Right Here. This moment. No thoughts of yesterday nor tomorrow. Loving the now is the key to mindfulness.

Try these suggestions if you are interested in moving forward to an inner peaceful you. Train your mind to receive the inner peace that will manifest a change in your life.

  1. Find a quiet place

  2. Position your body in a comfortable position

  3. Relax your eyes and close them.

  4. Calm your mind down by focusing on a simple thought. Something as simple as saying the words “I am at Peace” is a good start.

  5. Focus on your breathing-Breathe in through your nose, inflating your stomach, hold for a count of 5, release out of your mouth slowly. Continue to practice this breathing exercise with the intention to calm your body and set your mind up for the flow of peace you desire.

  6. You can begin by focusing on the affirmation (I am peace) and visualizing yourself being peace and calm.

There are several types of meditation. For more information about meditating go to www. headspace.com/mediation

Why Do We Lie?

Momma told us time after time not to run in the house. This daily reminder was clear with out creases or dents. Her threat was clear and pressed seamlessly. The consequences were left to our imagination. It wasn’t the broken vase that was crushed during our rambunctious playhouses that sent Momma in a fury; it was our deliberate decision to LIE about it. Why do we lie? Is it necessary? What does it say about our inner woman? Lets seek understanding about this.

According to Bill Sullivan, PH. D. “Robert Feldman studied a group of people at the University of Massachusetts where it was founded that 60% of the participants lied at least once during a 10 minute conversation. Telling an average of two to three lies.”

I often wonder if we realize that we are lying or has it become a comforting commonplace in our lives interactions. For example, if someone asked me how much my sandals cost and I say “ I don’t remember as to not to have to admit that I found them at a Walmart or the Thrift Store. Would my admittance to this budget find distort my need for validation? Would I be disbarred from the “ woman who got it together” group because of my $10.00 sandals? Why would I care? Why overthink this thing? I believe that this is the premise for our lies, whether the white ones or the down right unnecessary ones. Like you, I hate liars. Just tell the truth. Be You. Come real. But, also like you I have lied at times for a small reasons. Totally unnecessary. A contamination of my spiritual seeds. It has left a sour taste in my mouth. My integrity was compromised. My spirit was ruffled up. The shoes were $10.00. Hey, like it or leave it while I strut in them in my “wholeness”. Though this is a minor example of lying that can ease it way out of our mouths in a snap; we know of many more unnecessary lies that live in our spirit as untruths and coward responses to ordinary situations.

Seth Slater, MFA- Psychology Today says that, “Lying can bail us out of awkward situations, spare the feeling of others, preserve or strengthen alliances, enhance social standing, keep us out of trouble and may even save our lives.” Though these causes by Slater may justify our little lies, the damaging affect of lies dishonors our integrity and strangles our character to one of spiritual suicide. When we lie, we dishonor our integrity. That’s enough for me to live my truth. Don’t get me wrong. If I was faced with a life or death situation, I may have to compromise my integrity with a lie if all else fails to save my life or the life of someone else. The point is, as we journey to our authentic self which is a life long process; our wholeness depends on our courage to live in truth in all areas of our life.

Lying causes anxiety. I don’t need to research that one. There should be a flutter in your core when you lie. I have felt it and you have too. That is if you have not decided on making lying your bestie. Lying can be a friend that has your back and who honors a fragile sense of self through manipulation. I feel that friend dominating the situation when I bend or twist the truth. I am grateful for that internal alarm that says…. Girl, you are better than that.

In Psychology Today, the article “In the Truth About Lying and What it does to the Body” Bill Sullivan analyzes more information about lying and how it affects our body. “In addition to short-term stress and discomfort, living a dishonest life would seem to take a toll on health. According to a 2015 review article, constant lying is associated with an array of negative health outcomes including high blood pressure, increased heart rate, vasoconstriction, and elevated stress hormones in the blood.”

“Other studies suggest that long-term effects could be minimal since it appears that we get more comfortable with lying the more we do it. In other words, we develop an unsettling tolerance to being devious.”

Thinking back on my childhood, I understand how lying was a means to survival. It kept me from punishment and somehow gave me a false sense of power and control. As an adult, lying can be diagnosed as a warped sense of self esteem and a need for validation. I challenge you to reflect on your need to lie. Examine your reasons. Is it for approval? Does your lying mask your insecurities? Can you respond to someone with the truth without insulting them? Can your reputation stand on truth without creating a perfect scenario?

Then, start the journey to healing. Pray to God for truth about yourself. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. You are enough. You are unique. Decide to think first before you lie. Think about the choices you make and how it will affect your future of yourself and others. Deal with shame with prayer and the intention to be a better expression of yourself. Shift the gears of your intelligence into full gear and address the difficult situations with words or actions that will heal with kindness, truth and care. We got this, ladies.

Henrietta Lacks

August 1, 1920- October 4, 1951

Henrietta Lacks was diagnosed for cervical cancer in 1951 at John Hopkins Hospital. During that time it was discovered that her cells were of unusual quality. Her cells formed the Hela Line and used extensively in medical research since the 1950’s. After her death, cells were taken from her body without her knowledge and used for medical research. Henrietta Lacks cells were of unusual quality. Whereas most cells survived only a few days, her cells were more durable. Her cells were used to develop the Polio vaccine and continues to be used today. Her family never received compensation for her contribution.

Do All Men Cheat?

Is it about You or About Them?

Since little girls we have heard those whispers amongst the women in our families talk about it in kitchens and on back porches. Sometimes the conversations would be in whispers behind closed doors and other times outward displays of cussing and venomous objections. We have heard of the culprit being the younger woman who lured husbands away from their homes offering youth, vitality and prestige. We have heard of men maintaining behind the scene relationships for many years while navigating a marriage, dispensing his loins between the two. In these experiences, bitterness took the steering wheel for these women. It drove their hope in love into an internal wilderness of distrust, and a crushed spirit. As I look back on those formative years, I did not remember the evidence of actual tears from their bruised hearts for it was cleverly masqueraded as stellar strength. What I didn’t realize was the weight of heartbreak became a barrier between their true self value and wholeness.

Despite witnessing their bruises of despair, we created our young views of relationships with innocent and open hearts. Love lasts forever. Love is pure. Love is honest. Those strong guard rails of morality and inexperience braced our perception of love and cradled our hearts in soft velvet boxes. Protecting it and embellishing its sweetness.

The question is. What makes a man cheat? Why is the reputation of most men labeled as heartless, deceitful and just plain old dogs? After discussing this very subject with a few men, I have relinquished that low self value trap that catches us by the hearts when a man strays from the relationship. After carefully listening to these men of integrity, I learned that most men are always seeking something new and different because of their immaturity and need for confirmation in a relationship. Most men are looking for their egos to be stroke. The thrill of starting a new relationship and feeling that energy of passion and indulging into new sex with a new partner is exhilarating for them. Its a new experience. Its a thrilling adventure ride that most men decide to try. Even if the thrill only last for a moment.

My next question is, how can a man trade a history of a woman who they claimed they loved and respect into the arms of someone they don’t truly know but from face and body value? We have heard it all. Its the thrill of it all. Also, I was told that some men don’t intend for some relationships to last. They will use that woman until they believe someone else with considerable value is either attracted to them and offers them something different. There’s that “different” term again. Some men are seeking for their entire lives looking outside themselves for confirmation. Most will never find it in one woman. Being committed requires morals, integrity, maturity, an ability to truly feel love and most of all confidence in himself. A real man doesn’t need to look for a woman to make him whole. Teach me more. I said.

Finally, I am told that its not about me. Ladies, its not about us. If he cheated on you, he will very well bring that mindset of the thrill ride into another relationship. Its not that you are overweight. Its not because you are not attractive. Its because they are looking outside of themselves for something, anything to confirm who they are. Not all men have role models to teach them how to be faithful husbands and devoted fathers. If they saw their father cheated on their mother, they may follow suit unconsciously cursed by his generational brokenness. This is why parenting is the lifeline to our children. It is through us that they learn how to live with integrity and compassion. We are their example of love. The parental training from us can possibly end the trail of broken hearts caused by the hands of OUR offspring.

I digested this new revelation spoken by men of wisdom. Yes, men have wisdom too. These men have been with their wives for over 20 years. Some have confessed that they look at attractive women but have decided not ventured out to test the waters. One man said, “I can never do that to my wife”. “I would never hurt her like that”. “I know that there will be women out there who may look better or who are just different from my wife”. “ I love her through all of the arguments and disagreements.” “I love her not for what she does but for who she is as a woman.” Another man said, that he trust his wife. He knows that she loves him. She has been his rock and his inspiration. He admits that neither of them is perfect but even her imperfections are worth his commitment. “She’s a pistol but I love every bit of her, he says with a smile.” “The bottom line is that I love her.” “I truly love her.” “Through all of the good and the bad times.” “I am not going anywhere.”

I will say to women. Take the time to learn about your man. Listen to your intuition. Don’t ignore the signs. If he cheated on his girlfriend or wife before you, he is most likely to do the same to you. It may be how he operates in his life. “ There is no reason ever to cheat on a woman”. This statement was followed by a pause. Men come up with many reasons to justify their infidelity. I believe deep down, men do know what they are doing. Justifying infidelity eases any traces of guilt and lets them off the hook. Many men do not have the courage to end a relationship in a respectful manner and resort to sabotaging the relationship. I am convinced that women would appreciate a respectful exit if need be as opposed to leaving the relationship abruptly or flaunting another women around to infer his moving on.

I ask the question again, “Do all Men Cheat?” No, they don’t. Mine did. Yours may have. Not every man cheats. There are men out there who are loving, strong, mature and morally sound enough to commit to a relationship. There are men out there who understand the meaning of true love and commitment. There are men out there who are wise enough and morally strong enough to not get caught up in the lust trap of seeking a new thrill.

From a spiritual point of view, I now understand that “Nothing just happens”. God will remove people in your life that are not meant to go on your life journey with you. I read that “God heard conversations that you did not hear and that is why he allowed it to happen”. Just think about that. God saw what you did not see. He heard the conversations between them on the phone. He saw the sneaking around. There’s nothing that God did not see. I remember praying hard for my marriage to restore. It didn’t happen. He had already had plans before I knew it to move on. I had to realize that he was not my soulmate. God had another plan. I couldn’t force it. If you trust God you will know without a doubt that everything will work out for the good. If you believe in God’s will you will not stay broken for long. There’s a lesson in every journey.

Ladies, don’t give up on love. Select your man carefully. Pray for guidance. Don’t fall for the bells and whistles but take the time to explore and learn. The true spirit of a man will eventually surface. Don’t give most of your heart away and be caught with no heart left for yourself.

Thank you black, beautiful men of wisdom (Mike, Quincy) for transforming my thinking about men and cheating. You have convinced me that all men don’t cheat and that there are men of integrity, commitment, honor and morals still out there looking for meaningful, loving and committed relationships. Continue to set the bar for real men. Some good men are getting a bad rap from the ones who are walking around confused and scoring points for breaking women’s hearts.

Will REAL MEN please stand up. You are worthy of an applause. You give us hope. Real faithful men are not extinct. They are very much alive and waiting for the right woman for them. Ladies, remember his cheating is not a reflection on You. Cheating is about THEM. The good news is that there is a such thing as a “Real Man”.

What are Fibroids?

Fibroids are benign tumors that grow in or on the uterus, or womb. They may impact fertility and pregnancy chances. Uterine fibroids are very common. About 20 to 80 percent of women develop these noncancerous growths by age 50, and 30 percent of women between 25 and 44

What are dangers of having fibroids?

The dangers of having uterine fibroids depend on the size, number and site of the fibroids. The complications are heavy menstrual bleeding and abdominal pain, infertility, pelvic pain.

Types of fibroids a woman develops depends on its location in or on the uterus.

Intramural fibroids

Intramural fibroids are the most common type of fibroid. These types appear within the muscular wall of the uterus. Intramural fibroids may grow larger and can stretch your womb.

Subserosal fibroids

Subserosal fibroids form on the outside of your uterus, which is called the serosa. They may grow large enough to make your womb appear bigger on one side.

Pedunculated fibroids

Subserosal tumors can develop a stem, a slender base that supports the tumor. When they do, they’re known as pedunculated fibroids.

What can cause fibroids?

Hormones

Estrogen and progesterone are the hormones produced by the ovaries. They cause the uterine lining to regenerate during each menstrual cycle and may stimulate the growth of fibroids.

Family history

Fibroids may run in the family. If your mother, sister, or grandmother has a history of this condition, you may develop it as well.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy increases the production of estrogen and progesterone in your body. Fibroids may develop and grow rapidly while you’re pregnant.

Who is at risk for fibroids?

Women are at greater risk for developing fibroids if they have one or more of the following risk factors:

  • pregnancy

  • a family history of fibroids

  • age of 30 or older

  • African-American

  • a high body weight

What are the symptoms of fibroids?

Your symptoms will depend on the number of tumors you have as well as their location and size. For instance, submucosal fibroids may cause heavy menstrual bleeding and trouble conceiving.

If your tumor is very small or you’re going through menopause, you may not have any symptoms. Fibroids may shrink during and after menopause. This is because women undergoing menopause are experiencing a drop in their levels of estrogen and progesterone, hormones that stimulate fibroid growth.

Symptoms of fibroids may include:

How are fibroids diagnosed?

For a proper diagnosis, you’ll need to see a gynecologist to get a pelvic exam. This exam is used to check the condition, size, and shape of your uterus. You may also need other tests, which include:

Ultrasound

An ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of your uterus on a screen. This will allow your doctor to see its internal structures and any fibroids present. A transvaginal ultrasound, in which the ultrasound wand is inserted into the vagina, may provide clearer pictures since it’s closer to the uterus during this procedure.

Pelvic MRI

This in-depth imaging test produces pictures of your uterus, ovaries, and other pelvic organs.

How are fibroids treated?

Your doctor will develop a treatment plan based on your age, the size of your fibroids, and your overall health. You may receive a combination of treatments.

Home remedies and natural treatments

Certain home remedies and natural treatments can have a positive effect on fibroids, including:

  • acupuncture

  • yoga

  • massage

  • Gui Zhi Fu Ling Tang (GFLT), a traditional Chinese medicine formula

  • applying heat for cramps (avoid heat if you experience heavy bleeding)

Dietary changes can help as well. Avoid meats and high-calorie foods. Instead, opt for foods high in flavonoids, green vegetables, green tea, and cold-water fish such as tuna or salmon.

Managing your stress levels and losing weight if you’re overweight can also benefit women with fibroids.

If your condition worsens, or if no other treatments work, your physician may perform a hysterectomy. However, this means that you won’t be able to bear children in the future.
